Happy Holi and Happy Spring!

What better way to welcome Spring than by dousing yourself and others with vibrant colored powder? That is the essence of the popular Indian festival of Holi which is observed annually. This was my first Holi experience but I don't think it will be my last! It was wonderful to be part of this festive, colorful and joyful event!

The event was sponsored by ASHA (an international non-profit organization whose mission is to catalyze socio-economic change in India through the education of underprivileged children. 100% of the proceeds from the event will be used to fund grassroots education projects in India) and CCA (CA College of Arts).

As we entered the gated parking lot, it was amusing to see people covered in color, dancing, laughing and casually stopping by to say "Happy Holi!" before they threw a handful of colorful powder our way. It wasn't long before we followed along... sprinkling color on our friends and others. Throughout the event there were a variety of Indian themed music and dance performances that had the crowd singing along and dancing.
